New Delhi: The ODI and T20 teams are to be announced today during the ongoing Test series between India and South Africa. The selection committee meeting has been scheduled in Guwahati, and from there it will be decided who will take charge of the team in ODIs—Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul. Meanwhile, the news regarding Shubman Gill has increased the problems of the team management.

Gill injury: Out of ODI, T20 hopes remain

Gill's neck suddenly got stiff on the second day of the Eden Test. He suffered a problem while playing the sweep and was treated by the physio on the field itself, but after stumps he had to be taken to the hospital. Even after reaching Guwahati, the situation remained the same. Doctors advised him to rest, and the BCCI medical team made it clear that he would not be able to play in the ODI. Gill said that he wanted to play, but his body did not support him. There is still hope for a comeback in T20, as the series will start on December 9.

Rohit and Kohli's return confirmed

The ODI series is starting on 30th November in Ranchi. After this, two matches will be held on 3rd and 6th December. Rohit and Kohli are returning to the team. Now the real question is about captaincy—will Rohit take up the responsibility again, or will Rahul get a chance?

Rishabh Pant is being seen as the second wicketkeeper. Bumrah may get rest, and Arshdeep, Siraj, and Harshit Rana may get a place among the fast bowlers. Sai Sudarshan's name is also in discussion in the possible team.

T20 team: Suryakumar's captaincy almost certain

The T20 series is to be played in South Africa from 9 to 21 December. Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav is expected to get the captaincy. Both Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are contenders as wicketkeepers. If Shubhman Gill is not fit, then Yashasvi Jaiswal can enter the opening. Talks are still going on about Kohli's playing in the T20 team, but there is little possibility of his name being left out.
